Today Dropbox released the 1.0 version of their file sharing/syncing app. The code name of the new version is “Rainbow Shell” (the Chrono Trigger reference should tell you how cool this company is.)
Dropbox has been one of those “perpetually-in-beta” apps, despite the fact that thousands of people used it (and pay for it) on a daily basis. The 1.0 release brings selective file sync, performance increases, and Mac resource fork support among other enhancements.
The free version of Dropbox allows up to 2gb of storage space, with additional chunks of 250mb granted if the user refers another. Paid accounts start at 50gb for $9.99 a month.
Dropbox has been a lifesaver for me, personally. It’s one of the pieces of the “my entire music collection available to me anywhere at all times” project. Oh hey, and by the way, my referral link is right here, if you want to give me a free 250mb worth of space and get an additional 250mb yourself.
