Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has published a review of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII in their latest issue. FFXIII has garnered much attention, not only for its stature as the newest title in Square’s storied JRPG series, but also for the fact that the game is being released multi-platform on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Many PS3 gamers felt betrayed by this revelation, and though much speculation exists, it has yet to be seen how the two versions would differ. In an interview with the developers, Famitsu has revealed those details.
With the rumors of the Xbox 360 version requiring multiple disks, many questioned whether the system could handle the enormous size of the game, let alone present the game in full HD. Famitsu has confirmed this speculation as true in their interview with Square Enix. The Xbox 360 version will require a disk change midway through the game, as well as having compressed audio and compressed video for CGI cutscenes. The PS3 version will contain lossless audio and full 1080p video within a single dual-layer Blu-Ray DVD.
Final Fantasy XIII will hit store shelves in the Land of the Rising Sun in eight days. American fans will have to wait to get their fix, as the game is slated for a March release Stateside.
