FTC sacks criminal ISP and web host

The Federal Telecommunication Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division has shut down a California-based Internet service provider and web hosting company accused of being a one-stop shop for criminals, spammers, pedos and scammers.

Pricewert LLC, aka 3FN, Triple Fiber Network, APS Telecom and APS Communications; is accused (.pdf via Washington Post) of hosting copious amounts of malware and child porn for clients, ignoring take-down requests, swapping site IPs for shady sites to avoid detection, and helping design and configure botnets for clients.

The courts sided with the FTC, taking down 4,500 pieces of malware and blocking Pricewert’s 15,000 websites. Legal actions will continue, but for the interim, the web is a little bit safer.
