G.SKILL launches 24GB DDR3-2000 CL8 kit

G.SKILL has launched their latest extreme performance memory with the announcement of a new 24GB (6x4GB) kit.  As illustrated below, the memory runs at DDR3-2000 with CL8 and a standard voltage of 1.65V.

G.SKILL demonstrated a similar kit at Computex running at CL9, but apparently that wasn’t quite good enough for them, hence the new CL8 kit.  Neither a release date nor pricing has been made public yet, but considering their same-capacity-but-lesser-speed brethren on Newegg run $749 (DDR3-1333) and $979 (DDR3-1600), one could reasonably expect the DDR3-2000 flavor to debut in excess of $1000, or as we at Icrontic prefer to call it, “$WTF Expensive”.

Thrax I am still marveling at how G.SKILL managed to pull this off. DDR3-2000 is already incredibly stressful on a CPU's memory controller, to such an extent that slightly higher frequencies tend not to work in triple channel (explaining why all the 2133+ modules are dual channel only).

So, how the hell did that make a 24GB kit? That's 6x4GB sticks! WTF.

UPSLynx EFFING DDR3-2000, HOW DOES IT WORK?

mertesn Kind of makes me want an i7 setup so I can try it... but I'd need a second (or third) job just to pull it off.

PirateNinja I heard this was the minimum memory requirement for Crysis 2
