GeForce GTX 285 and GTX 295 review roundup

nvidiaApparently NVIDIA didn’t get the memo about Icrontic going to CES and how it might cause problems getting the news out. They decided to release the new GeForce GTX 285 and 295 video cards without giving Icrontic a good chance to share the news with you. Here’s how things stack up.

The GTX 295 is the fastest card on the market currently, pulling ahead of the ATI Radeon HD 4870X2 by a fair margin. It’s power hungry, loud, and will set you back $500, but that’s the price you pay for ultimate performance.

The single-GPU GTX 285 is a die-shrunk GTX 280 that should hit the shelves tomorrow for $400. It is the fastest single-GPU card on the market, but it sees heavy competition at its price point by competing dual-GPU setups.

Komete Anything interesting in the works for the sub $250 market from Nvidia to be released soon?

BuddyJ I bet price cuts will drop the GTX 260 squarely into that range. As of right now, that's where they're hitting after rebate.

NVIDIA seems to trickle down its cards instead of creating new ones.
  3. rechargable aa batteries Nvidia's GeForce GTX 295 is the single fastest 3D card on the market, and for a relatively aggressive price. Added bonuses like power efficiency and PhysX support sweeten the deal, but even without those extra benefits, we'd still recommend this card for its processing power and comparative value.

Sorry to potentially feed the troll, but... power efficiency? Seriously? You have to be joking. NVIDIA cards are widely heralded as power suckers compared to the entire Radeon series. ;D
