Halls of Reflection Lich King encounter stealth “fixed”

Halls of Reflection Lich King encounter stealth “fixed”

Though unannounced in the 3.3.2 patch notes, the Lich King now has an additional buff when encountered in the new 5 player dungeon, Halls of Reflection.

The change seems designed to force players away from using what some consider to be an exploit that can be used to complete his chilling chase event.

Prior to 3.3.2, players were able to stand safely aside while he stalked down the hallway after Sylvanas Windrunner in the beginning of the event. This caused there to be less travel time between the party and the waves of undead summoned by Arthas, which gave players a time advantage they would otherwise lack. Instead, Arthas now bears an aura called Pain and Suffering (Hi, Tigole. -Ed) that causes the Lich King to deal 1500-2000 damage per second to any players caught near him.

Was the encounter cheapened by standing aside? Or was it merely a “creative tactic” that Blizzard encouraged players to discover?  Let us know what you think by registering or commenting below.

poofie i think you mean Jaina Proudmoore, not Sylvanas Windrunner.

i'm not bothered by the change, the whole instance is difficult (at least for a healer) and i think it keeps this encounter in line with the difficulty of the rest of the dungeon.

Ryder Silly Alliance, he got it right the first time ;D
  3. Annes
Annes I'm with Poofie (except for the part where she was Alliance).

primesuspect I ran this for the first time last night (as a healer), on regular mode. It was pretty hard (mostly because both myself and the tank were woefully undergeared), but we made it through.

I hope they fix the MAJOR glitch that we encountered: Sylvanas Windrunner spawned with 1hp, and died immediately, killing us all instantly. Good times :wtf:
