Hitman Absolution has snakes, double secret engine

This video dropped this week on the new Hitman Absolution Youtube channel:

The video doesn’t show much. In fact there is no in-game footage at all, but we get some information by way of the barcode at the end, which has eight highlighted numbers. First: “47” is the agent number of the protagonist, which means we’re likely not changing protagonists (not like it was very likely anyway), and the other six numbers are the date for the opening day of E3, which means we’ll likely get more info there (again, not really a surprise.)

47 says Cool Story, BroThe press release accompanying the video describes the game thus:

Hitman Absolution follows Agent 47, a cold blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth.

So, there’s that.

We also have word that the new game will use an entirely new engine called Glacier 2, though no details have been release about what the engine can do other than a cryptic blog post by one of the designers—in a thread called “Could Hitman 5 turn into another Conviction?, aka become shit”, which says, “without being able to tell you where and how far we will take specific new games, the engine technology that is Glacier 2 easily has potential to rival the best. So while living up to you guys’ expectations is no small task, at least we are making some changes and improvements that can actually take us there.”

Like everything else in the gaming industry right now, there likely won’t be any more news until E3.
