Following rumors earlier this month that T-Mobile and HTC were preparing a QWERTY MyTouch to replace the Sidekick series, phone blog Droid Developer claims to have the Internet’s first details of the device.

Known by many names, including MyTouch2, MyTouch Slide and HTC’s Espresso codename, the device is said to be the successor to the T-Mobile’s MyTouch (HTC Magic). Unfortunately for those who were fond of the MyTouch, however, specifications of the newer device are rather bland:

  • 1300mAh battery;
  • External MicroSD slot;
  • Optical trackpad;
  • Camera (unknown MP) with LED flash;
  • 3.5mm headphone jack;
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard;
  • 480×320 resolution;
  • and an ARM11 SoC.

The ARM11 family of ARM processors was used as the basis of the Qualcomm MSM7201A, better known as the processor used in the T-Mo G1 and the MyTouch. In other words, the MyTouch 2 has received few–if any–hardware changes from its predecessor.

Though its release date is unknown, all sources point to May.
