iPhone hacked to run Android

iPhone hacked to run Android

An enterprising team of modders have orchestrated the most ground-breaking iPhone hack since the jailbreak: porting Android to run on the handset.

The stunning hack was lead by a modder known as David “Planetbeing” Wong, a member of The iPhone DevTeam, which developed the renowned jailbreaking process. His work was assisted by CPICH for reversing support; harmn1, posixnina, jean, marcan and saurik for patches; and TheSeven, who worked on the flash transition layer.

The following video demonstrates the mod working on what is evidently an iPhone 2G, as Wong notes that there is work yet to be done to move the port forward to the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

For now, Wong says, interested parties can get started with generic openiboot instructions, as well as pre-built images, sources and a readme located at http://www.mediafire.com/?xqjzn12igfn.

Bandrik Probably not too practical for me as I generally enjoy my 3GS OS and the apps it allows... but this is still a pretty ballsy, awesome attempt to bring Android to poor iPhone suckers.

Or not. Either way, it's really cool to see!
