Happy birthday, Link! You’ve been coming to town and saving the Princess Zelda for 25 years now, earning yourself a piece of everybody’s hearts. Few games have captivated audiences as much as the Legend of Zelda series, and as such Nintendo is celebrating with a full symphony concert tour starting this October. With their surprise Zelda concert during Nintendo’s presentation at E3 being just the appetizer, fans are in for a real treat.
Simply titled “The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony“, the concert will feature iconic scores that will be selected by Nintendo composer Koji Kondo and his team. Featuring a full 70-instrument orchestra and choir, the first event is scheduled for October 21, 2011 at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets start at $35 and are available for purchase starting August 1st. Following this event, a full tour of the concert will launch in 2012, sweeping Zelda music across the continent.
Something that caught my eye was the fact that the concerts will be produced by Jason Michael Paul Productions, Inc. This is the same group that produced PLAY! A Video Game Symphony, which I have personally attended. Assuming the Zelda concert will be held at the same caliber as PLAY!, Jason Michael Paul puts it quite well: “it’s an event that fans and music aficionados won’t want to miss.”
