Adobe Labs announced a new release of the Lightroom 3 Beta. LR3Beta 2 includes two new features and many enhancements to existing features.
The most requested new feature is importing and management of video within Lightroom. Users have repeatedly requested this feature since many high-end DSLR cameras, such as Canon’s 5D Mark II, became capable of video capture. The competing product, Apple’s Aperture 3 (released last month) added video support, which also put pressure on Adobe to add video features to stay competitive.
The second new feature is native tethering support for select Nikon and Canon cameras with more cameras expected to be added at release.
Other features that were improved on from the first beta include:
- Improved luminance noise reduction (a feature locked in beta 1)
- Improved import experience
- Faster imports
- Improved application performance
- Faster image loading
- Improved watermarking tool
Lightroom 3 Beta 2 is a free download available at Adobe Labs
