Today LucasArts announced that they are coming to Steam. In addition to some of their current titles, they are re-releasing some of their venerable classics such as The Dig and Loom.

A list of releases:

  • Armed and Dangerous™
  • Indiana Jones® and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Indiana Jones® and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
  • LEGO® Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
  • LOOM™
  • Star Wars Battlefront® II
  • Star Wars Republic Commando®
  • Star Wars Starfighter™
  • The Dig®
  • Thrillville®: Off the Rails™

I personally am thrilled to see Loom on that list. It’s one of those games that I always wanted to play but somehow never had the chance to. Again, nostalgia wins. I know some people who are gonna poop themselves about The Dig.

chrisWhite This = Fail until X-Wing vs Tie Fighter.

    So with you Shwaip
  4. pigflipper
pigflipper Fail until ANY of the X-Wing and/or TIE Fighter games are included. Also, where is the Monkey Island love?
  5. Grimnoc
    Grimnoc No friggin' way!

    Fail? Wait. What? How?

Don't get me wrong, I logged countless hours into X-Wing vs. Tie, Tie Fighter, X-Wing, and even Alliance but in no way does this equal fail.

Besides, you know if they are releasing Loom, The Dig, and the Indiana Jones ones they are most certainly going to release Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island and all the rest (*crosses fingers*).

  7. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster Good news, but to exclude Maniac Mansion and Grim Fandango is a crime.
  8. CB
CB Don't worry: They are referring to this as "the first release" of classic games.
  9. Grimnoc
Grimnoc Oh, I know. :) They do have a couple fantastic ones though (i.e. Loom and The Dig), and besides that I kind of like the idea of not releasing all the best games right away for a couple of reasons. First, with all the classic Lucasarts games being released if they were to be included in the first batch I would never be able to get to them all. Also, if they released all the best right away any other batch releases would be made irrelevant. It would be all "Nothing to see here, move along." So, with those reasons I'm perfectly content with this first batch.

*Though I do want to explode great quantities of Rebel scum.
  10. UPSLynx
UPSLynx Grim Friggin Fandango. It's one of my favorite games. I'll buy it and love it and take loaves of bread from the festival vendor and drive around with Glottis and pop baloon animals and get rich running my own business oh man oh man oh man

  14. CB
CB On steam, a lot of the screenshots look heavily anti-aliased.
  15. Grimnoc
Grimnoc So has anyone had the opportunity to play Tales of Monkey Island yet? How is it?

lordbean Slightly unrelated, but I keep hoping Fallout and Fallout 2 will randomly appear on steam one day... I miss blasting mutants in isometric view.
