Paradox has today released a trailer for their upcoming Napoleonic war sim.
March of Eagles will be much like the Paradox war games you are used to from the long and deeply involved Hearts of Iron franchise. This one focuses specifically on Western Europe during the Napoleonic Wars—only a ten year period—but, as usual, players can choose any faction, however minor, which was within the historical theater of the war, and manage that nation toward pretty much whatever goal they so choose in a flurry of deeply drilled micro management interfaces.
They also sent along this official synopsis of the game:
Players will take control of any one nation of Europe in this geopolitical barfight, dispatch armies and envoys, raid supply lines, form coalitions and get with the times, already. Because one thing’s for sure: Napoleon’s Grande Armeé is coming, and he’s not interested in second place though he might have to settle for it, if he’s just one guy in a 32 person multiplayer battle with set victory conditions
March of Eagles‘ Features will include unique generals with their own personal skills and special abilities, new fighting modes unique to the era, more detailed troop supply management controls that allow the player to drill into the details of the food and equipment being sent the troops on foreign soil, and a 32-player online mode in which players make and break alliances in an effort to control Europe by the end of the ten years.
The game seems to continue the trend of each Paradox war sim getting a bit more detailed than the one before, with more and more management options. It’s heaven for the micro-managing war-gamer.
Enrollment for the closed beta has begun over on the game’s website with an application deadline of September 6th, 2012.
March of Eagles will release sometime in Spring 2013.
