Microsoft double-confirms May 5 for Windows 7 RC1

windows7There’s not much to say on this one. Word of the release candidate’s May 5 debut was leaked by Microsoft on April 18, and has now been confirmed by Microsoft in a blog post:

There certainly has been a lot of discussion about Windows 7 in the last few weeks. A lot of folks want to know when they can get their hands on the official RC, when we are going to RTM, and what I had for breakfast.

I’m pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for  download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th.

And that’s that.

    Cliff_Forster I want it!!

How is the upgrade process? Do you just have to do a clean install, or can you upgrade from your prior Beta version?
  2. BuddyJ
BuddyJ For RC1, it'd be best to do a clean install according to my conversations with Thrax. Best to give it a fresh start, right? We'll probably find out more next week.

Snarkasm There's actually a check in place that will attempt to prevent you from upgrading from a beta copy to RC1. It can be gotten around, but why tempt fate? Go clean to give it the best chance to continue wowing you! :p
