Today, Microsoft held their E3 2010 press conference, and if following the Twitter conversation of many gaming journalists and attendees is any indication, pretty much underwhelmed all present.
Microsoft announced two “more of the same” games: Gears of War 3 and Halo Reach, both of which fell flat with the gaming press. Then they unveiled the new name and launch date of Project Natal: the retail version is called “Kinect” and it will be available on November 4th.
With Kinect, they unveiled a lineup of ho-hum games; mostly casuals. They also unveiled Forza Kinect.
Their final announcement was a hardware redesign. The Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim is now smaller, has built in Wi-Fi, a 250gb HD, remains the same price, and is shipping today, although the Xbox 360 store on Amazon has nothing yet.
Their “Oh and one last thing…” moment and the reward for sitting through all that Kinect crap? All attendees of the press conference are getting a new Slim 360 for free.
