Though details are slight, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said during the company’s recent 4Q09 investor call that the firm is working with Google for a direct-to-consumer Android phone a la the Nexus One.
According to Jha, Motorola intends to offer 20 different smartphones throughout 2010, including “one direct to consumer device with Google.” Although the particulars of such a device are shrouded in mystery, speculation has suggested that it will be the Motorola Mirage/Shadow, shown right in a crude render.
Specifications of the device are said to include a 4.3″ 850×484 display, HDMI output, 1080p recording/playback support, an 8 MP camera and a thickness of just 9mm (0.35″). The last specification suggests an AMOLED screen, as the backlighting requirements of an LCD are not likely to produce a phone of such svelte dimensions.
