Motorola announced this week that its mid-range CLIQ handset is now eligible to receive an interim update, version 1.3.18, that further improves battery life, fixes select applications and improves the touch screen.

From time-to-time, Motorola releases updates to enhance the overall performance of its phones. The 1.3.18 software update for Motorola CLIQ provides improvements to the Motorola CLIQ’s battery life, touch screen sensitivity, GPS performance, and other functions outlined below.

For optimal performance, we encourage you to download and install this latest software update.

In addition to this interim update, it was recently announced that CLIQ users can expect to see a software upgrade to Android 2.1 at a later date. We will share further details on the timing of the release as they are available.

  • Longer Battery Life
  • Improved battery life while phone is idle or running applications.
  • New Battery Management Feature  A new “Battery Management” feature lets you customize battery settings, such as turning data off when phone is idle for 30 minutes. To enable Battery Manager, go to Settings, Battery Manager, Battery Profile.
  • Better Bluetooth  Improved pairings, audio and call connections with Bluetooth headsets, including: rewind/fast forward feature with S9 and HT820 headsets.
  • Touch Screen Accuracy  Improved touch screen accuracy and protection against inadvertent key presses and unintended phone calls.
  • TTY Option  Text Telephone option for the hearing/speech-impaired lets you converse with callers via “real time” text messaging instead of relying on the caller’s audio.
  • Better Business Connections  Improved connections to corporate email accounts.
  • Improved Caller Connectivity  1.3.18 repairs issues with lingering connections after hang-up.
  • Quick Office 2  Quick Office 2 supports additional file types and enhanced capabilities.

  4. Johnboy I got the update and now my phone is screwed up!
Can't do photos, calls are acting weird, running slower than before and battery life has been cut by aprox 30 per cent. Great Freekin Job Motorola and T-Mobile.

QCH Here are my real life and highly scientific tests. Normal daily use before the update... Unplug at 6:30am and by 8:00pm I am really close to 5% battery life. After the update, 6:30am and at 11:00pm I was at 15%. Yesterday I hardly used the phone: unplugged at 6:30am and at 11:30 it was at 54%!!!! BATTERY USE MUCH BETTER.

I HAVE noticed that the phone is a bit less ATK to manage memory and that has helped. Photos actually seem faster!!
