Motorola outs update for Cliq XT

Motorola announced this weekend that a two-part update for the Cliq XT is now hitting the airwaves with a select number of fixes in tow.

Dubbed version 1.31.44, the update provides the following changes:

Phone performance: Generally improves data connectivity while reducing the occurrence of freeze-ups, resets, and random forced quits.
Visual VM: Enhanced design and interaction for Visual Voice Mail.
Bluetooth: Better Bluetooth audio while streaming.
Camera: Addresses instances of camera randomly freezing after taking a picture, and helps correct intermittent resets while camera and video applications are in use.
Display: Improves backlight performance for the display.
Text messaging: General improvements to text messaging – especially for longer text message threads.
Touch screen: Improves overall sensitivity of the touch screen.

As noted, the update comes in two parts, so Cliq XT users should take special notice of the instructions below:

First Step:

  1. Select Download; after the software is downloaded, select Install.
  2. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.

Second Step:

After your phone restarts, you will receive a prompt to download the second update.

If you are not automatically prompted for the second software update, you should manually check for updates.

  • From the main menu, select the Settings icon,
  • Select About Phone,
  • Select System Updates.
  • Select Download; after software is downloaded, select Install.

After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
