New faction premiere video for space MMO Jumpgate Evolution

New faction premiere video for space MMO Jumpgate Evolution

Earlier today Gazillion Entertainment launched the premiere trailer for their MMO Jumpgate Evolution—the sequel to Jumpgate: The Reconstruction Initiative.  JGE is an twitch combat MMO set in outer space.  The game will offer player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) content.  While the game does offer both roles—the main focal point is PvP, as JGE offers the most XP and rewards in PvP mode.  Instead of levels they offer ranks—the higher the rank the more unlocks a player will achieve.

Jumpgate Evolution offers three human nations—Octavius, Solrain, and Quantar.   The nation you pick does not limit you to certain roles through the game, however.  You can gain status with other nations whether you’re from there or not. The game also features realm-versus-realm gameplay.  Players will be able to form their own army and nation while attempting to stay safe from rival nations.

Jumpgate does not have traditional classes. The player’s role is that of a pilot, so everyone is on the same playing field.

Gazillion has kept the system requirements low, so that it can be played on low end PC’s. The minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows® 2000/XP/Vista
  • CPU: Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
  • RAM: 512 MB+
  • Network: 56k modem or better Internet connection
  • Video: 32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting
  • DirectX. 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers

Developers want to make this game playable to as many people as possible.

Watching the video, the first thought I had was that the speech reminded me of the movie 300.  Very powerful, it almost makes me want to play the game just by watching the trailer.

A release date has not been announced.

Comments

  1. Jason I wish it had some game play shots in it.
  2. Tushon
Tushon That does look interesting and because of your 300 priming, I totally expected him to say "this is spartaaaaa" but I suppose "we are octavius" will suffice.
  3. Seidl Seriously? 300 was a pile of steaming fecal matter. That speech, and the one in the trailer, was cheese on top of cheese. The whole unsophisticated film that was 300 operated on the level of adolescent he-man posturing. On top of that, 300 was homophobic (ironic considering its latent homoeroticism), Orientalist, and completely unimaginative. I have squeezed out material with my anal sphincter that was more dignified and finely crafted than that trash.

That said, videogames have never been known generally for their quality writing, since developers almost never hire good writers. So maybe the game will still be good anyway. E.g. Rome: Total War and the super cheesy speeches that generals give to the troops.

Howdy, Stranger!
