Sonic the...Werehog? o.O

Sonic the...Werehog? o.O

Most of this week’s releases are for the Nintendo DS. Let’s take a look at what’s new:

If you’ve ever wondered what Sonic the hedgehog would be like as a lycanthrope, you’ll get your chance to find out this week with Sonic Unleashed for the 360. This one’s got two interesting gimmicks: A day/night cycle that causes Sonic to transform back an forth between regular sonic and a bestial form called “Sonic the Werehog” and a new mechanic that allows the game to flip between 2D and 3D at key points, allowing the player to experience classic Sonic style runs along-side the newer 3D adventure style that we’ve been seeing from him recently.

The only release for the PSP this week is Mytran Wars a tactics style game with lots of robots, researchable tech trees, and the pretty graphics we’ve come to expect from PSP titles.

An interesting cross-platform release this week is Neopets Puzzle Adveture from the publishers of the Warlords franchise (including Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords). This new game is going to have a game-play style very similar to Puzzle Quest. Players can choose one of twelve NeoPets to play as, and then follow a RPG-esque story, using gem-puzzles to defeat the monsters. Fans of Puzzle Quest who don’t mind a cartoony theme, should check this one out.

Chrono Trigger for the win!

Our Icrontic Spotlight game for this week is the DS release of Chrono Trigger. Fans of Nintendo RPGs will appreciate this converted release of what is, for many, the greatest RPG of its era. This new version will include the new cutscenes that were created for the PlayStation version, more accurate translation, some updated art, a new dungeon, multi-player modes, and an ‘Arena’ where players can fight and train the monsters from the game.

CB I haven't played through it since the SNES days. I'm certainly adding it to my DS RPG list. There are two other games in line in front of it, however.
