From Shrapnel games, known for their realistic tactical simulators, comes the PC release Battle Group Commander: Episode One. This time the players battle former Soviet forces across the Salisbury Plain Training Area. The game boasts hyper-realism, and intuitive micro-management controls for those who are into that sort of thing.
The PSN release NOBY NOBY BOY, from the designer of the Katamari franchise, players use both control sticks to maneuver the ends of a worm named BOY. Puzzles will be solved and obstacles over come by stretching and shrinking the worm’s body, while maneuvering around the environment.
Disney Sing It: High School Musical 3: Senior Year is the third entry in the Karaoke franchise. It plays just like the previous entries with a new album of songs, including Queen’s “I Want It All”.
The cross-platform release SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is exactly what it’s name implies. This is the definitive canon of classic SEGA games. It includes almost every game in their popular franchises: Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, Streets of Rage, Shining Force, Vectorman, and Ecco the Dolphin. In addition you’ll see some great solo games like Comix Zone and Beyond Oasis. Finally, it contains some special features like interviews and unlockable arcade games.
The wiiWare release Evasive Space is a multi-directional space shooter in which the players maneuver their ships with the WiiMote IR pointer. Multi-player modes will be included.
The Icrontic spotlight this week makes Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the DS shimmer. The Fire Emblem franchise has consistently delivered great tactics games, and this one doesn’t look like it will fall short of that lofty expectation. This remake of the original is everything you would expect of a Fire Emblem game on the DS, with a few new features. WiFi multi-player will be available if you and your friend both have cartridges, and for the first time it will be possible to save mid-battle. You still wont be able to make a permanent check-point save whenever you want, but there will be opportunities to save in special circumstances before particularly difficult parts of the chapters. This one is certainly going on the list of DS games that I’m going to play when I finally finish Puzzle Quest.
