Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry

On the DS this week we find Suikoden: Tierkreis. This is the first Suikoden game on any handheld system. It will feature the same fundamental gameplay as the marginally popular console jRPG with a new storyline and a basic online component similar to the functionality of other handheld RPG titles.

Three  games for dummies are shipping this week.  Brain Training For Dummies and Poker For Dummies on the PC and Travel Games For Dummies on the DS. All three are officially licensed by the ‘For Dummies” series, and they are all exactly what they sound like they are.

The cross platform release Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game will force players to balance a romantic and social life while performing delicate surgeries. I’m guessing that must be what the show is about. (ed. note: you’ve got to be shitting me…)

EVE Online will be hitting the shelves this week. More than five years after its initial release, Atari is placing a new box version in stores. The Box will include the client, all 9 expansions, 60 days of play time, exclusive in-game items, and a career guide.

Our spot light his week comes to rest upon Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry for the DS. Many of the previews for this game have described it as basically Animal Crossing with magic spells. It does seem to have many similar features and mechanics, such as the main character being the only human in a (college) town of animals, a focus on collections and money-making, and one-button operation for most actions. It even has many ‘real-time’ in-game events, and seems similarly focused on the passage of time, as Animal Crossing games are. If you’ve done everything there is to do in Wild world, give the back of this box a read.
