Elven Legacy
For the PC this week, we’ll get to see Elven Legacy. This sequel to the ’07 Fantasy Wars is being published by Paradox Interactive, who are known for publishing very realistic strategy game, like Hearts of Iron and Mount & Blade. It will be interesting to see what they saw in this Tactical Fantasy game.
Worms PSN
The newest title from TEAM17, Worms PSN is coming to your Play Station 3. An “Expanded and honed” version of the Worms game that was released about this time last year on XBox LIVE. A must have for Worms fans, this version has a flexible multi-player, which allows up to four players in teams or free-for all, local or internet . It has more landscapes, more voices, and more weapons (including the return of the much-loved Holy Hand Grenade from the ’95 PC edition.
iSoldierAnts
While we’re on the subject, iSoldierAnts is dropping for the iPhone this week. I don’t often get to mention iPhone releases in my showcase, but this one looks interesting. It’s a Worms-clone that doesn’t even attempt to disquise it’s heritage. the screenshots make this title look like a Worms game c.1999 which has simply had the worms replaced with very worm-looking ants. It was not developed by TEAM17, but sometimes plagiarized work can be as fun as the original.
Flock!
This week’s Icrontic Spotlight lights up the stage around Flock!. This cross-platform release centers around puzzles which require the player to herd farm animals through a patchwork landscape with their flying saucers. The saucers can interact only with the environment to guide the flock into the mother-ship, and away from dangerous obstacles, like pits and predators. A cooperative mode will allow two players to attempt to use a bit of cunning teamwork to solve the puzzles. Other touted features include a full-featured level editor (with a space to share levels with friends) and advanced visuals.
