On the PSP this week, we get Mytran Wars. This tactics game puts players into a dystopian future, where corporations fight over the planet’s resources with giant bipedal machines. A new resource rich planet has been discovered, and a battle for control ensues. With 4 different campaigns, 4 multiplayer modes, over 200 technologies to research, and a rich plot, this one should have more than enough content for most tactics fans.
Our first DSiWare feature is Mixed Messages. More utility than game, it is essentially an amped up version of the Pictochat “game” that comes with the DS. Players write little stories and draw pictures in an attempt to amuse one another. There is no winner or loser, just entertainment (if you’re into that sort of thing).
This week’s Icrontic Spotlight doesn’t need to be very big to shine on The Dark Spire. This DS RPG from Atlus (one of our favorite publishers) is an homage to old school first-person RPG games. Build a party of adventurers from the ground up, while traversing a 3D dungeon. Fight hydra, amazon women, and even pirates as you make your way up through the forbidding tower. As a bonus, the game even includes a “classic” wire-frame mode, which allows the player to adventure in the graphical style of the original first-person RPGs, so many years ago.
