New Releases for The Week of Culling Dragons and Nazi Dinosaurs

New Releases for The Week of Culling Dragons and Nazi Dinosaurs

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile

First up this week is The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile. Sequel to The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, this new game follows the same character from the well-recieved first game, and features many of the same mechanics. It builds on the original’s features, however, as players can now play as either The Dishwasher, Yuki, or both, as online co-op play is available. Battle through 13 new campaign levels, and 50 extra levels with LIVE leaderboards. Lots of weapons, lots of blood, and plenty of freaky enemies to chew through. If you had fun with the first one, you’ll have fun with this one.

Dino D-Day

I know I complain a lot about World War II as a setting for video games (or anything, really), but Dino D-Day might be the WWII game to make me change my mind. This class-based FPS is set in an alternate history in which Hitler Jurassic Parked some Dinosaurs, and is winning the war due to this overwhelming advantage. Players choose a class as they enter the battlefield, but unlike most games in the genre, the sides do not have analogs of the other. If the player choses the Allies, they have six classes—all the typicals from bombardier to sniper. If the player chooses the Axis, however, they only have three human classes. The other three classes are dinosaurs… dinosaurs with guns. Unfortunately the game doesn’t look too polished, and the dinosaur gimmick will likely lose its novelty after a few rounds, so it might not hold much of a following for very long.

Hoard

The Icrontic Spotlight this week flies from the deadly maw of Hoard. This game is an interesting twist on the city simulator genre. The player takes control of a marauding dragon, terrorizing a countryside village. The dragon in powerful, and earns treasure by destroying the village, but if he destroys too much, there will be nothing left to attack next year. The player must strike a balance, destroying enough to keep points high, but leaving enough infrastructure that the town will survive or even thrive into another year. It’s just made more awesome by the addition of a multi-player mode. Expect an Icrontic review of Hoard soon.

Zanthian I liked the Hoard demo, so i picked it up last night. Unfortunately the full version has some bug that the demo did not have. The game has been hard locking my computer. Heading to the forums to see if anything can be done.
