First up this week is the WiiWare release Chronos Twins DX. Nec exists in two time periods simultaneously. He can see both time periods and interact with them, but everything he does, he must do in both times. Fast-paced platformer action challenges players to pay attention to both time periods, and coordinate the actions between them to survive while solving occasional temporal puzzles along the way.
The major cross-platform release this week is Army of Two: 40th Day. It’s like the first Army of Two, but more sequel-y.
For the Wii we’re getting Walk it Out. In this exercise adventure game players can use their Wii balance board, dance-dance pad or just the WiiMote and nunchuk to walk around a vast world. Every corner of the game world has new puzzles to play and characters to interact with, and the more you walk, the more interesting it gets. Walk to the shore, and talk to people at the beach, or walk up into the hills to find some woodland creatures. Listen to musical scores from popular artists, like the Black Eyed Peas, as you walk, and track your distance and progress with in-game achievements.
Our spotlight release this week is Sands of Destruction for the DS. Play as Kyrie Illunis, a boy with the power to destroy the world, though he doesn’t know how or why. He’s discovered by a group of rebels who want nothing more than to see the world destroyed under the noses of the evil overlords. This is a fairly typical JRPG with the exception of a few features like battles that span both screens, and a character customization engine that allows players to make their party unique. The game also features over 300 cut-scenes to get you through the twists and turns of the strange plot.
As always, you can find these games in Ye Olde Icrontic Gaming Shoppe.
