Not much to see this week as we enter the summer release season, and only one game which seems worth paying attention to. Thus, the Icrontic Spotlight this week sweeps over the sword and bow of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. This title comes from Bethesda, who have made some of the most polished and compelling single-player fantasy games ever, so we know that it’s going to have a lot of thought put into it. This time however, they are finally letting a multi-player mode into the mix. The game requires that you play with a friend. There is not single-player mode and the co-op play is specifically designed to push players to working together. One player plays melee, the other harassment, and the challenges of the game are focused on requiring teamwork. The gameplay is third-person button timing combat, with some variety scenes thrown in, and the engine is Unreal 3. Players on the consoles will even be able to play split screen if they’d like to split a couch (and the cost of the game). Hopefully we’re just seeing the beginning of a long trend of co-op focused games. Now I just need more friends who have matching free-time.
