The first Crysis game is more well-known, in some circles, for its graphical intensity, than for its actual gameplay. For years, the test of a graphics card hads been “How does it handle Crysis?”. So what will Crysis 2 be known for? According to the developers, mostly the same thing. The new engine is yet more sophisticated, and looks even better than the first one. Secondary features include realistic AI, an improved and streamlined Nanosuit mechanic, and the claim that their multi-player mode will revolutionize multi-player gaming as we know it.
LEGO Star Wars has been great for LEGO and Star Wars, as the games are not only the most popular of the LEGO games, but are close to the top of that scale for Star Wars games, as well. They’ve already released LEGO versions of all of the movies, however, so they are resorting now to events from the expanded universe with LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. The game-play will be identical to past LEGO adventure games, and will depend on which system you prefer. The story this time follows Anakin and Obi-Wan through the events of the Clone Wars television show—which seems, like the LEGO games, to be getting more and more popular even outside of its young demographic.
The Icrontic spotlight this week shines through the goopy splatter of Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. This is a multi-player Ghostbusters themed dungeon-crawler. Let me say that again in-case you missed the sgnifigance the first time: multi-player Ghostbusters themed dungeon-crawler… Dungeon-crawler. Ghostbusters. Multi-player. It really doesn’t need much more explaining, but I’m going to explain in more detail anyway, since otherwise my head will explode. In this game players will team up with up to three of their friends to maneuver through an original adventure in the shoes of a team of Ghost-busting rookies. It calls itself a top-down shooter, but has gameplay similar to any dungeon crawler, like Dungeon Siege or Alien Swarm. Expect a need for teamwork as each player takes on a slightly different role on the team. Not much detail announced regarding an advancement system, but I would think to see some kind of increase in skills or gear between levels, if not a full-blown leveling mechanic. Also expect cool things to happen when streams are crossed.
