New Releases for The Week of Raining Meatballs and Shrunken Plumbers

Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim

Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim

The Sequel to Majesty comes out for the PC this week. Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is very much like Majesty, but with better graphics, and a few new features. This RTS has the player building hero’s guilds, hiring heroes then getting them trained and equipped to fight the baddies. The economy of the game is based around the heroes themselves, but the player never directly controls them, relying instead on bounties and flags that suggest actions to the heroes at the right time. Watch for Icrontic’s review of this game to show up later this week.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

A tie-in to the upcoming movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, based loosely on the classic children’s book will arrive across all major platforms. In the game you play Flint, the movie’s main character, as he follows the plot of the film, which apparently has him saving the world from his own giant food meteors. I would expect sloppy controls, half-shod mechanics, and little replay value. However, I have been surprised by movie tie-ins in the past.

WET

WET

In the cross-platform release WET, Rubi is a ‘fixer’ who’s been slighted, and is out for revenge against the man who left her for dead. Gun down the bad guys, while performing superhuman feats of acrobatics. This game features a retro cinematic style, lots of slow-motion, and a few unique modes, like car-surfing and a super-angry adrenaline mode. The fact that it’s coming out of Bethesda, the studio that brought us the Elder Scrolls franchise, makes high production value, and well-thought out mechanics very likely.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Icrontic’s Spotlight Release this week is Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story for the DS: An RPG/puzzle game that has the player following two related story-lines. The usually, but not always, evil Bowser accidentally inhales our favorite plumbers after being tricked by a rival villain who wants to take over. Switch back and forth between the story of Bowser’s fight against Fawful and The Bros. journey throughout the inside of Bowser’s body. Use Mario and Luigi’s teamwork to fight-off microscopic badguys, and help Bowser along from inside. The combat is RPG style with some button timing, and the many platformer-style levels are full of puzzles that require the pair to work together to find Peach and escape.

Cliff_Forster A little AV goes a long way.

    Wet looks interesting.
  6. NiGHTS
  7. primesuspect
primesuspect We played WET at E3, and I have to say: Not impressive.

You got to play WET. I had to stay down with the plebians and play Lookout Point. :P
  9. primesuspect
primesuspect You're mistaking WET for Brink. I got to see a private Brink demo. WET was playable by all on the showfloor. I know for sure that at least Scotty played it besides me.

    Brink looks sweet.
  10. CB
CB Hmm. I guess I just missed it then.

    Bowser bowel movement joke, nice...
  13. QCH
QCH VERY Nice work CB. Also... SEEING Majesty made a big difference. I might look that game up. Thanks CB
  14. GHoosdum
GHoosdum Yes, Wet was playable downstairs. It looked very linear, like an arcade shooter (Time Crisis style) only with Kill Bill's plot.
  15. UPSLynx
UPSLynx CB - When we were at Bethesda, WET was to your right on two screens while you were playing Fallout3.

    It was meh.

GREAT video, much improved! I agree with QCH, being able to see the releases in motion perks my interest WAY more. The VO is significantly better than the proof of concept.

Also, regardless if we create a different open for this or not, I realized I didn't give you the open with the credit super to Reggie and the full effect. So while you are using it, we should definitely get a credit on there.

The credit super is on this http://www.viddler.com/explore/icrontic/videos/10/
Just recreate it and place where you see fit.
  16. primesuspect
primesuspect I think it needs a different open. The E3 open has little relevance for CB's game announcements.

The open that you used for Madcatz is good. Can we use that?
  17. Gate28
Gate28 WET demo on XBL and PSN, FYI, if you want to give it another go. I, personally, found it rather enjoyable and played though the demo at least ten times trying all kinds of stuff.
