Kinect Star Wars is the new motion-controlled Star Wars game. Players will jump and flail and vocalize to control Jedi and fly X-wings. The game takes place during the timeline of the prequel trilogy, and introduces several new characters, rather than rehashing existing stories. The game is divided into five campaigns, each with a different focus, one of which is a dance game—whcih oddly takes place during Princess Leia’s time with Jabba. There seems to be little story and lots of odd decisions, which one can only defend by saying that it is intended for children. Star Wars fans may not enjoy the title, but someone simply looking for a Kinect title with some variety could find themselves amused.
Confrontation is an adaptation of the boardgame of the same name. The game centers on tactical battles in a fantasy world. Characters will build fighting teams based on each encounter and the combats themselves are semi-turn-based, allowing for full tactical planning rather than twitch reactions. Lots of the combat mechanics revolve around positive and negative status effects which frequently alter the dynamics of the running combat, requiring frequent reevaluations. Players choose one of four factions, each with its own units, spells, and abilities. Multi-player through Steamworks ensures good matchmaking, so tactics fans should give it a shot.
