New Releases for The Week of Unlucky Outlaws and Dual Pistols

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is the sequel to the popular 2007 first-person shooter, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The games are rare in their genre in that they are built from the ground up with co-operative play in mind. In fact, the only other one I can think of is the Half-Life spin-off Decay. In this new storyline, the role of protagonist shifts from Kane to Lynch, and does not tie very closely into the story from Dead Men. Other changes from the original’s gameplay include a new, non-automatic cover system, and a more limited weapons selection.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

In Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, one of video gaming’s favorite protagonists returns for yet another adventure, this time Lara is set to explore the temple of light in Central America, where she will help the Guardian of Light to defeat his ancient enemy and retrieve the Mirror of Smoke. The big deal here is that Lara is jumping genres. Where all past Lara Croft games have been over-the-shoulder adventure/puzzle games, this new one will feature a fixed camera with an isometric view, essentially transforming it into a 3D puzzle/platformer. It may be a minor distinction, but we’ve yet to see if it will drastically alter the feel of the long-standing game series.
