New Releases for The Week of Vanarchs and Dolls

New Releases for The Week of Vanarchs and Dolls

The Exiled Realm of Arborea or TERA is a new micro-payment MMO. The game-play is typical over-the-shoulder click-to-slash type stuff with skill bars and cooldowns. Players can earn or purchase—with IRL monies—an in-game currency called Chronoscrolls, which are reputed to work very similarly to Eve Online’s PLEX funds. The game features seven playable races with eight classes to choose from. The only unique feature of the game seems to be the endgame politics. Once a player’s character reaches within ten levels of the level cap, the possibility of entering into the game’s ‘politics’ system becomes available. The leader of a particularly successful Guild can become a Vanarch of the realm, a sort of governor for their province, ruling under the game’s governmental system. To win the position, the player and his supporting Guild complete a series of  quests to win ‘votes’. Once won, the player can set taxes on in-realm transactions to win money for his Guild, and has the power to confer other bonuses as well. To keep the position, the player will have to maintain more votes than others who want the job. This ability for one player/Guild to actually rise above the rest in a sort of leadership position is an interesting addition to the genre.

Fable Heroes is a hack-n-slash dungeon crawler in the Fable story-world. The game is designed around multiplayer, and is light on tactics and skill. Players are in store for 4-player button mashing at it’s goofiest. The playable characters are doll-like avatars of various characters from the Fable franchise of games. The game will be visually frenetic and the gameplay, while simplistic at core, will include a variety of modes both cooperative and competitive, including some mini-game style contests.

primesuspect Fable Heroes uses the same in-game font as Dungeon Defenders and it's driving me nuts.
