New Releases for the Week of Vengeful Gods and Bikini-clad Zombie Slayers

New Releases for the Week of Vengeful Gods and Bikini-clad Zombie Slayers

OneChanbura: Samurai Bikini Warriors!

OneChanbura: Bikini Samurai Squad

First up, a classic style top-down RPG for the PC. Aldorlea Tales: 3 Stars of Destiny pits a party of children against the ultimate evil. They are the stars of destiny, and must unite to defeat the evil god, but he cannot act in the mortal realm, and must only attack them indirectly. Features include over fifty hours of play across sixty quests and dozens of unique location. Also: 8-bit style RPG game-play without having to deal with actual 8-bit graphics.

Nintendo delivers another great remake for classics lovers this week with Populous DS. This release is a remake of the original Populous, with updated graphics and interface options to fit with the style of the DS. If you’ve played the SimCity remake, then you know what to expect.

A-Train 8 for the PC is the newest game in the A-train franchise. As before, the player is tasked with designing a metropolitan transit system in a major city reminiscent of New York City. From the screen shots the graphics seem vastly improved, and the engine seems more streamlined.

This week’s Icrontic Spotlight falls on the cross-platform release OneChanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad. If you’re one of the many who’ve been waiting to hack-and-slash your way through hordes of zombies while wearing almost no clothing on your anime feminine frame, this is the game you’ve been craving. Take on the role of pretty-girl zombie hunter Aya or her cute-assassin little sister Saki, as they are forced to use their samurai skills to push their way through the zombie apocalypse with their father’s swords. If that’s not enough, you may also delight in the ability to earn new, and yet more ridiculously designed outfits for the characters. Other features include a gore-meter, which tells you when your sword is getting too sticky with zombie guts, and a co-operative multi-player mode, which is almost never a bad addition.

CB What? You're not looking forward to customizing your Zombie-slayer-grrl with various scanty outfits?

It's like paper-dolls with swords, how could you go wrong?

kryyst Play it you'll see. It's amusing in short doses. But the game itself is so linear and repetitive that it's hardly a game at all. You run down a fixed path hit your attack button a bunch of times and just keep going - that's the game. Requires very little strategy or thought at all. No branching paths no real story to speak of. It's like running on a treadmill really.

Howdy, Stranger!
