About a year ago today, Nexon America held a million dollar contest called the Nexon iNitiative. Its goal: find the most promising ideas for an indie game project and reward it with both funding and the chance to join Nexon’s growing library. Shift forward to the present, and Nexon America is once again launching its Nexon iNitiative contest to give budding game developers a second chance to make a splash in the gaming community.

The best game design submissions will earn a piece of the million-dollar pie!For the best chance of scoring a share of the $1 million, Nexon is looking for game ideas that would have the widest-ranging audience appeal. Social and community-based games will be highly regarded, especially a free-to-play game that earns profits from a microtransaction model. Both Flash- and client-based games are welcome, as well as ports from other existing platforms. Also, games that have a multi-platform expansion in mind as well as strong online play capabilities are a major plus, as well as any game that follows Nexon’s existing set of goals.

Those interested should get moving right away, as the submission deadline of April 30, 2011 isn’t too far away. More information, including submission guidelines and the legal jargon can all be viewed at the Nexon iNitiative official website.

As for the winners the first Nexon iNitiative contest last year, the million-dollar prize was split between Canadian developer Antic Entertainment and Polish developer one2tribe. Chosen from a pool of over a hundred eligible submissions, the winning studios are both currently working on online game projects that will be co-developed and published through Nexon’s global distribution network. The winners of this years contest will most likely be joining them, with their game becoming available to over 71 countries. Now that’s some serious exposure, so all you would-be developers had better get crackin’.
