Nvidia introduces new GeForce GTX 260

Today Nvidia launches the re-vamped GeForce GTX 260. Same name as the old card, but the facelifted model gains an additional cluster of shader processors, boosting the count to 216. This means more power in the shading and texturing department, but the card’s memory bandwidth stays put. Total boost from the upgrade increases performance around 6 percent.

Reviews have already hit the net; Hexus and Guru3D both published reviews today of the BFG GeForce GTX 260 MAXCORE OCX.

The cards are available today with a $299 MSRP. If shopping for a GTX 260, be sure to count the processor cores; most listings still feature the old 192 core version.
