This morning’s news that NVIDIA may be preparing to abandon their chipset business received some damning evidence today courtesy of TheInquirer. Their sleuths capably noted that products containing the ultra-high end 790i chipset is quickly disappearing from vendors and the support pages of numerous manufacturers.
In their look at the situation, they noted that both Gigabyte and Foxconn — both large providers — no longer list 790i solutions on their site. Similarly, all 790i boards seem to be unavailable at web vendors who previously carried Foxconn and Gigabyte 790i boards.
TheInq rounds out their investigation by suggesting that the massive chipset problems plaguing their notebook line is not the end of the story.
This rumor cake is best served with salt.
