NZXT dives into the power supply market with the HALE90

NZXT continues to snuggle up closer to the hearts of gamers, PC enthusiasts, and custom system builders everywhere by announcing their foray into power supplies today. They’re throwing their hat into the ring in the form of the HALE90 80-plus gold certified PSUs ranging from 550w up to 1kw. The 550w is not modular, while the 650w, 750w, 850w, and 1kw models are modular and come with flat cables.

NZXT’s commitment to quality in their case and peripheral builds is evident and time-tested. This is the first time NZXT has delved into core components other than cases. If they can maintain the same level of excellence they bring to their other components, these PSUs are probably going to pretty much kick ass.

The HALE90 series is available today according to the press release, but we couldn’t find anywhere to purchase them yet (even directly from NZXT.com). Pricing is as follows:

  • 550W – $119.99/€109.99
  • 650W – $139.99/€129.99
  • 750W – $159.99/€149.99
  • 850W – $179.99/€169.99
  • 1000W – $209.99/€199.99

  1. Thrax
Thrax They better have a good ODM to demand those prices.
  2. _k
_k I could of sworn they were already selling one PSU before today. Though this would be the first full line of them from NZXT.
  3. MAGIC
MAGIC They did a line of PSUs called Performance Power, but this is their first 80+ Gold series. And, yeah they had better have Seasonic under the hood to charge those prices but that is still high imo.
  4. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster Keep in mind, the suggested retail on a PSU will probably be a good 20% higher than the price you see on newegg. These appear to be premium units. A good power supply can go in your next build, then the next, then the next if you buy it right. I know there is allot of competition, but the flat modular cableing is a differentiated feature that interests me. I dig it.
  5. PirateNinja
PirateNinja I'm normally an Enermax elitist, but I'd use these for my next build instead. Better price, and NZXT is a friend of Icrontic.
  6. fatcat
fatcat for those prices, I want to see how well they do against PC Power and Cooling PSUs
  7. radfox4 hahaha the video paused for me immediately after they flipped the switch. coincidence? ;)
  8. Zuntar
Zuntar Nice stuff, but to much $$$. White is so so.
  9. BuddyJ
BuddyJ According to JonnyGuru, it's a branded Superflower Golden Green. The Kingwin Lazer Gold would be comparable FWIW.

A good review of the PSU if you can muddle through the Deutsch.
