NZXT unleashes the Phantom case

NZXT today revealed their new full tower case, the Phantom. The Phantom is, according to NZXT, their “most elegant and intelligent chassis design to date.”

The Phantom sports seven fans, including dual 200m, single 230/200mm, triple 120mm, and front 140mm fans. There is also an integrated fan controller with room for up to five 20W fans. Watercooling enthusiasts will also enjoy the Phantom, as it has four watercooling cutouts with dual radiator support.

The new case was created with space in mind, and it has room for a large heatsink, graphics cards, E-ATX motherboards, 7 hard drives and 5 optical drives. Additionally, the case has a lot of space behind the motherboard for wire management, and 5.25” screwless rails to make installing HDDs easier.

The Phantom also has a switch controlling the lights to the case, rubber PSU and case feet, removable front and top panels, and top mounted USB, audio, and E-SATA ports.

NZXT appears to be bubbling with excitement over their new case. “The profoundly unique contours combined with a highly functional, robust feature set solidifies Phantom as one of the most innovative case designs on the market,” said Johnny Hou, Founder and Chief Designer at NZXT.

The Phantom was created with design input from modder of the L.O.S.I.A.S., Rogue, and OSIDIAS Projects, Craig Brugger. NZXT tries to reach out to the community in order to get input on their upcoming cases.

The Phantom comes in black, red, and white, and will retail for $139.99 this September.

  5. GnomeQueen
GnomeQueen I like it, but it's going to be massive! (in b4 that's what she said)
  6. AlexDeGruven
AlexDeGruven Wow, that is sharp. Really like that design.
  7. Jingalls
Jingalls I like the top radiator mounts, pretty clever.
  8. Snarkasm
Snarkasm REALLY like. Took in some watercooling requests and the ability to toggle the lighting? Both things I'm looking for in a case. That black one is straight sex.

Might have to move on, even if I really like my RV02. I'm keeping an eye on it.
  9. BuddyJ
BuddyJ I'm with Snark. The RV02 is amazing, but this sucker is tempting. I'm digging the gloss white.
  10. fatcat
    fatcat too much b-b-b-bling...

now if it comes with a sexy female Ukrainian voice that tells me sweet nothings, well.
  11. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster Can I take credit for the integrated fan controler?

I mean, it sort of was my idea, so I'm just sayin a proper royalty in the form of a case in Radeon Red might be in order. ;*)

I wasn't aware that sexy and Ukranian went together anywhere outside of Bond films (possibly). Maybe a nice French or German or Spanish voice.

  23. Obsidian
Obsidian Some people like doors. I'm sure you could take it off (perhaps by breaking the case) if you really hate it.

How often are you putting disks in your computer? Really? I use a flash drive 100x more than i use a disk.
  25. BuddyJ
BuddyJ Doors are awesome. I've wanted a good doored case forever so it can cover all the flashy sweet stuff I put in the bays.
  26. Snarkasm
Snarkasm Doors are great for those that don't want to interrupt the face of their computer with mismatched opty drives.

As long as the headphone, power button, and USB ports aren't stuck behind the door, I'm good. :)

mirage I don't like doors either.
  29. primesuspect
primesuspect What I don't get about the door is that if you have an awesome fan controller like NZXT's own Sentry LXE, it's hidden. Sad pandas :(

mod that bitch into the door, or the side panel, or the top panel, or whatever.

    when I had my rogue,

    l_00084554.jpg

the door was open 80% of the time due to Netflix DVDs in and out and my laziness to close it. but, I like the clean look of a door over a miss-colored DVD drive
  31. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster Case doors and I have a real love/hate relationship. A well designed case door can look great and do allot to deaden the noise for your entire build, and that is critical on an enthusiast build where your running multiple fans, and probably over-clocking. Nobody wants to set next to something that sounds like a jet turbine.

At the same time, I agree with Prime, sometimes you just want to see those components and have immediate access to them.
  32. Jingalls
Jingalls Doors are nice until they break off, and then it just looks all wrong.
  33. Thrax
Thrax Every case I've had in the last 11 years has had a door, and they've all ended with their door.
  34. Jingalls
Jingalls My dad and I both have the same Antec SOHO Fileserver case, and the door has broken off on both of ours. It was meant to be detached but it broke when we tried to reattach it.
