OCZ launches 80+ Gold-certified Z Series PSUs

The boys at OCZ have just announced the immediate availability of the Z Series line of power supplies which have received the prestigious 80+ Gold certification for offering 90% or better efficiency.

The result of nearly two years of research within the technology group’s power division, the new Z Series offers 850W and 1000W units with modular variants available for a small price premium.

Rounding out the product line, OCZ has also released two 80+ Silver-certified units at 550W and 650W respectively.

Gold-certified Z Series units can be found on Newegg:
OCZ Z Series 850W (OCZZ850): $219
OCZ Z Series 850W Modular (OCZZ850M): $239
OCZ Z Series 1000W (OCZZ1000): $289
OCZ Z Series 1000W Modular (OCZ1000M) $299

There is no word on pricing or availability for the remaining Silver-certified models, but we imagine they can’t be far off.

lordbean Nice. If I hadn't already bought an Antec 1000W modular, I'd be all over that.
  3. Thrax

yagga I like 90% Lets make more, maybe a 90+ efficiency standard? Oh, and quite metallicy...
  7. Ryder
Ryder 90+% is platinum... stay tuned.
  8. yagga
yagga Yeah, I noticed those sub categories, didn't know they were there. I can't find a platinum, but that is exactly what I was thinking.

In any case, a 90% plus is going to put my somewhat newish Corsair 80% psu to shame. I've got a modular 520w and I think I figured I was getting roughly 82-83% out of it.
