It’s no secret that Intel’s upcoming Nehalem processor and X58 chipsets are going to be a departure from x86 norms. To date, one of the most publicized challenges faced by companies hopping on the Nehalem bandwagon is the problem posed by its memory requirements. It likes fast DDR3, but it doesn’t tolerate the high voltages today’s fast sticks require.
Today, OCZ is the first company to try and please this picky eater. They’ve introduced the first triple channel DDR3 memory kits that meet Nehalem’s strict voltage diet. The new sticks will be sold in 3GB and 6GB kits as part of OCZ’s Gold and Platinum product lines. Three flavors will be available in both kit sizes. They are:
- OCZ PC3-10666 Gold CL 9-9-9-20 1.65V
OCZ PC3-12800 Gold CL 8-8-8-24 1.65V
OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum CL 7-7-7-20 1.65V
We can’t wait to see how these things benchmark.
