Microsoft honcho CEO Steve Ballmer says that the next edition of Microsoft Office, code-named Office 14, isn’t on deck for a 2009 release.
The next version of Office recently entered alpha in January, but it is yet unknown when the product will enter a beta state. It is known that the beta will be distributed to select individuals, but Ballmer has confirmed that the product “will not be [shipped] this year.”
There is endless speculation as to the cause of the delay, but the prevailing theory goes that development on the new spin is just plain slow.
