One Man, One Con, One Mission: Comic-Con International 2011

Comic-Con 2011

One week from now the doors will open for Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center. The first Comic-Con I ever attended was back in 2001 and I have always wanted to go back. I have that opportunity now to go back, this time as an Icrontic reporter. Alas, I am only one man and the amount of email pouring in for the panels is a bit overwhelming.

I want to take this opportunity to ask you, the Icrontic members, to let me know what panels/areas you would want me to stop by and report on. Because of the large amount of geekiness that will be happening all at one time, I will be overwhelmed by the amount of people that will be in my way—and the very likely body odor that accompanies this crowd.

Some of the press releases I have received so far include:

  • Comedy Central presents “Ugly Americans” and “Futurama” panel
  • Adult Swim Series panel which features creators, producers and actors from Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros., Children’s Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV, Black Dynamite and Eagleheart
  • Batman: Arkham City brings Star-Studded panel which includes Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Jim Lee, Paul Crocker
  • Spike TV panel which includes “Deadliest Warrior—Vampires Vs. Zombies”, legendary horror director and writer Wes Craven, TNA wrestlers Kurt Angle and Mickie James.

You can check out all of the panels at Comic-con.org. Give me some ideas on where you want me to go for Comic-Con International 2011!

Cliff_Forster If I were there, nothing would stop me from getting my fifteen seconds with Mark Hamill. And if you do, pretend only to be interested in his Joker voice work, and don't mention that other role. Seriously, you, an Icrontic T-shirt and Mark Hamill must make it into the same photograph. It's the right thing to do.

Seriously though, I think a trick is to find something a little off the beaten path, something largely ignored that is interesting to you. You will get a little time and appreciation from someone who is not the absolute center of attention and maybe get something really great to write about. If its interesting to you, my bet is it will make for a great article.

Garg Stop by Topatoco if you read any of their comics, and get a sketch done by Jeph. Or hug him and get a picture before he freaks out and goes hulk on you. Either way, +rep.

BuddyJ Huggles for Jeph would be epic lolz.
