Over seven million copies of Skyrim sold in five days

Skyrim Mammoth vs DragonStraight from the horse’s mouth: Zenimax has sold over seven million copies of Skyrim in five days. This covers Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sales (both physical and digital). From the press release:

After shipping seven million units of Skyrim for the Xbox 360® video game entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and PC, Skyrim’s launch units are expected to generate more than $450 million in global retail sales

They also touted over fifty “perfect” review scores. Not surprising, giving the amount of attention the game has received even in our own discussion forums. Dozens of players are posting screenshots, telling stories about things that happened to them, and generally gushing over the breadth and scope of the world of Tamriel and her Nords and Dragons.

PunnyFuzz Great, I'm glad we did our part. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going out for some celebratory mead, and I expect you all to do the same as well.

TiberiusLazarus My picture got used. Yay.
  4. BobbyDigi
BobbyDigi Seven million copies is indeed a massive number of sales but "in five days" is a bit misleading as they are including pre-sales dating back at least 4 months.

  5. MiracleManS
MiracleManS It might be a bit editorialized, but the fact remains that games like Skyrim (and the rest of TES) don't usually get huge pre-order numbers. This game is breaking a barrier that many thought was untouchable in such a complicated game.
  6. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster I wonder what the breakdown is per platform?
  7. NiGHTS
NiGHTS Likely XBOX>PS3>PC, given the 3.4M sold article we posted a few days ago.
