A new puzzle game has jumped into the fray. Introducing Picross 3D, a new take on the classic Picross puzzle style. The game focuses on number-based deductive logic, so fans of sudoku and Minesweeper should definitely give this a look.
Play starts off with a solid block of cubes—think of it as a solid block of marble—and it’s your job to pick away at it throughout the puzzle to reveal the object hidden inside it. To do this without damaging the object, you are provided a series of clues that are marked on the cubes themselves. These numerical hints will allow you to deduce which cubes must be removed, and which are possibly part of the final object. With over 350 puzzles in all, there is no shortage of objects to uncover.
Picross 3D also features a custom puzzle editor. You can create puzzles, share them with friends, or try some unique puzzles for yourself. Puzzles can be downloaded from friends or from the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to get them straight from Nintendo.
Those that want to give Picross 3D a try can download a free demo via the Nintendo Channel on the Wii. You can also check out a Flash-based demonstration on the game’s homepage.
