It would seem that the list of iPad games continues to grow like a field of weeds after a rainy weekend. Next in line is PopCap Games, known best for popular casual games such as Peggle, Bejewled, and of course, Plants vs. Zombies. After selling over 650,000 copies of Plants vs. Zombies for the iPhone and iPod alone, PopCap has announced that it will be bringing a special version of the zombietacular title to the iPad as well. The “HD”-branded app will sport full 1040×768 resolution and additional features exclusive to the iPad.
The Plants vs. Zombies HD app for the iPad is already available for $9.99 from the App Store on the iPad
“The iPad is a fantastic platform for gaming, and Plants vs. Zombies HD allows us to show off the great new features and functionality of this exciting device,” said Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “In this adaptation, we’ve focused on the iPad’s Multi-Touch capabilities and opportunities for new gameplay like the Buttered Popcorn mini-game that will excite both new and current players.”
The Plants vs. Zombies HD iPad iteration will include all the original 50 levels of Adventure and QuickPlay modes from previous PvZ installments, as well as the Survival mode that was featured on the desktop Mac or PC versions. It also includes four new achievements and a total of 18 mini-games—some of which are exclusive to the iPad. One such mini-game is “Buttered Popcorn”, where players butter up a zombie and then fire corn-cob cannons at them.
