Nintendo is probably not happy with the fact that their latest handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, got outsold by Sony’s now old-school PSP 3000. How is this possible? For the week of March 28 to April 3, six of the ten bestselling games in Japan were PSP games—you can thank the software for the sudden push for the PSP, and rightfully so. Many of the PSP games on the list are games that I would get if I was living in Japan:
The Top Ten list for the week of March 28 to April 3:
- Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional (DS) – 163,008/NEW
- Amagami (EBKore+) (PSP) – 69,221/NEW
- Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection (PSP) – 31,382/135.554
- Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3) – 31,382/135,554
- BlazBlue Continuum Shift II (PSP) – 23,808/NEW
- Amagami (EBKore+) (PS2) – 17.261/NEW
- Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP) – 15,864/4,417,517
- Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy (PSP) – 15,223/419,135
- Pro Yakyuu Famista 2011 (3DS) – 12,851/NEW
- Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity (PSP) – 12,002/312,419
It is just incredible what happens when you have actual content for that system and how many people want those games. Now you are probably wondering about the numbers for the system. Here is the list:
- PSP – 57,379
- Nintendo 3DS – 42,979
- PlayStation 3 – 27,453
- Nintendo Wii – 10,249
- Nintendo DSi LL – 9,706
- Nintendo DSi – 9,566
- PlayStation 2 – 1,996
- Xbox 360 – 1,789
- PSP Go – 696
- Nintendo DS Lite – 629
Yes, I am shocked that the fact that the PlayStation 2 is still selling strong and even beat the Xbox 360. Do you think the Nintendo 3DS will bounce back and return to the top spot or will another system take over the number 1 spot?
