The prestigious Red Dot award is awarded annually to a select few products; one for each of three categories—Design Concept, Communication Design, and the most coveted, Product Design. One cannot apply for the award, and past winners have included high-profile companies like Apple, Bose, and BMW.
It was quite a shocker, then, to receive a press release today from Psyko Audio—a little company we’ve met up with at trade shows and whose products we’ve seen and appreciated—stating that the 2010 Red Dot for Product Design has been awarded to them for their 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System.
James Hildebrandt, self-proclaimed “Head Psyko”, states,
“It’s extremely humbling to see our unique design highly regarded by one of the most prestigious design organizations in the world. We’re excited to leverage future advancements in 5.1 headphone design to deliver gamers the most immersive and enjoyable experience possible.”
Extemely humbling to say the least. When you can put your company name up there with BM-freaking-W, Bose, and Apple for industrial design, you’ve really done something. Congratulations Psyko Audio!
