Quanta Storage ordered to pay Ricoh $14.5m

The United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin has ordered Taiwan-based Quanta Storage to compensate Japan-based Ricoh $14.5 million USD for patent infringements.

The court ruled on November 20 that Quanta Storage, the largest Taiwan-based OEM producer of slim optical drives, had infringed upon two of Ricoh’s patents related to optical drive technology.

Quanta Storage is considering whether it will appeal the judgment.
