Red Faction: Armageddon sketch modeFrom the “video is worth a thousand words” department…

THQ’s upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon has a special “sketch mode” cheat that allows one to play the game A-Ha style, apparently.

Garg Awesome. I suppose shaders are considered proprietary and a key part of the art, but it'd be cool if there was a way to load custom shaders and do things like this with more games.

AlexDeGruven That's cool... I wonder if it reduces the load on the GPU, which might allow me to play the game without upgrading my video card right away.

Koreish I just realized that Red Faction and Saints Row share Ultor as the main villain corporation thing. It would amuse me greatly if both games take place in the same universe.
  5. Darkwill73 Man, Volition...First, they make an Ultor company in Saint's Row 1, establishing a connection between the two games. Then, they make your character sing along to this song in Saint's Row 2 when it comes on the radio. Finally, they make a DLC which flat out tells you that Ultor is making plans to head to Mars.

Between the ridiculous amount of time dedicated to A-Ha and the excellent connections between the games, Volition is one of my favorite gaming companies ever.

AlexDeGruven It's really cool when content creators (authors, studios, etc) try to link their stuff up together. That's one of the things I enjoy most about reading Stephen King, is looking carefully to see if/how he intertwines the story with the Dark Tower universe (or one of many others, though they all seem to tie into DT at some point or another).

Great stuff, and is a hallmark of true creativity when done correctly.
  7. CB
CB To see it done masterfully, read Asimov. His stories all started out in separate story-worlds, but by the end of his career, he managed to tie almost all of them into the same universe. The only ones that ultimately didn't fit were the sword and sorcery type stuff, of which there was very little.

Howdy, Stranger!
