The gaming world’s record-breaking franchise has returned for a fifth helping. Today, Rockstar announced that GTAV did, in fact, exist. Rumors have been swirling for quite some time for the franchise, who broke single week and launch day sales records to the tune of $500 million and $310 million, respectively ($170 million was the previous record, held by Halo 3). Keep in mind these numbers were relatively early in the release cycle for consoles, which have now matured to the tune of 106 million units sold between PS3 and 360. It’s pretty easy to see why this next release is kind of a big deal…
No details of the game are known outside of the official logo that can be found on their homepage. You’ll hardly have to wait, though, as the website promises a trailer November 2nd. Short of that, all we know is that the development of this release has been ongoing for three and a half years. Rockstar will likely use their tried-and-true method of using in-game footage for the trailer as well.
Presumably, the release will be for 360 and PS3 only, but with the traction PC gaming has been getting lately we may be pleasantly surprised. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
